Overheard at Our House

We were with our friends who have two girls and one boy, talking about sisters.

Anna: I have a sister!
Me: oh? Who is your sister?
Anna: The Brothers!

Goooooooo COUGARS!

Patrick has made it a tradition that the VERY first song each our our children hear upon their arrival on earth is the BYU Cougar fight song.

After Chan was born, Patrick was holding him while the nurse was taking care of me. He started to sing a favorite lullaby...then suddenly stopped mid phrase-

"What am I Doing??

Rise all loyal Cougars..."

It was hilarious. The nurse, a fellow BYU fan, was highly amused and pleased. :)

Anyway. Point is: We are cougar fans.

As students, we took our first born to many a sporting event with our awesome All-sports passes. He went to plenty of football, basketball, and volleyball games.

And then we had more. and no sports pass. And thus we didn't go to games anymore. And we moved.

Well. Just before we left to head to American Fork to visit P's family for Thanksgiving, P's older brother called to invite him to a football game. There was a 3rd ticket available, and as I was needed to take care of all the chillins', Josh thoughtfully invited Christian.

The kid had a blast. So did his daddy. :)

Is that a song? In my brain, I feel like it is. If not, it should be. :)

Anyway. What to say when over 6 months of life have gone by with out a 'real' post?

Here's to the near future of hodge podge randomness of whatever I end up posting about. :)

OVerheard at our House

Channing Chats

Yesterday, while helping Chan after his nap I told him I loved him.

Chan: " I love YOU a TONS, mommy. And I love daddy a TONS, too. And I love our whole family a tons. And I love Jesus and Heavenly Father a tons, too."

We live pretty much out 'in the country'. Our breakfast table looks out our bay window at a horse field. A week or so ago when it snowed Channing noticed that the horses were wearing 'coats'. Today he observed the 'coats' were gone.

"Mom, the black horse and the brown horse took off their coats and hanged them on their hangers"

(we've been working on hanging our clothes up around here :) )

Me- "oh really?"

Chan- "Yeah. They kicked off their coats on the ground with their legs and then they picked up their coats with their teeth and hanged them on the hangers."

Wow. What fabulously responsible horses we live by! :D

Overheard at our House

setting:

We're eating some homemade vegetable soup with a tomato broth. Christian wanted to be done, but hadn't eaten much.

"mom, I don't like the birth."

"the what?"

"the birth. It's yuck. "

After some big smiles, Patrick informed him it was called BROTH. Christian informed him he just calls it BIRTH.

Later that night we were filling out a spotlight sheet for Christian's primary class-

patrick: "Christian, whats one food you don't like?"

Christian: "BARTH! I don't like Barth. and Onions."

Man, bud. I wouldn't want to eat anything called birth OR barth. Can't blame you there!

Happy SIX years!!!

Our family celebrated our 6-year birthday-

(Seeing as we were fresh out of the hospital and it was mildly painful to walk... P and I will have a fabulously romantical evening later... :) )

We watched Patrick and I's wedding video- the boys loved seeing daddy and mommy (but mostly daddy) as little kids. Daddy was the big hit of the show because he had all the cool toys and costumes: TMNT, He-man, Ninjas, Pirates, etc. Mommy just had crazy hair and a cat. (oh man. Hopefully that's not foretelling of my future...)

The kids helped make and decorate a birthday cake, then we sang happy birthday to our family, blew out candles, and looked forward to another 6 amazing years. :)
